Easter in Year 2 and Pysanky

This week we are doing lots of activities to celebrate Easter and in particular are looking at Easter celebrations in different cultures to ours. We are looking at the art of Pysanky, a Ukraine tradition:

'Pysanky is a traditional craft in Ukraine and Poland. The method is similar to batik - patterns are drawn on the egg with wax, which then protects the covered areas from the dye that is applied. By repeating this process with different colours of dye, a multi-coloured pattern is built up. Finally, the wax is removed to reveal the colours that were covered up at each stage.'

We are also making Easter Palm Crosses.... using sugar paper strips!
