Sentence Types and the Elephantom Story

Last week in literacy we have been using the story of the Elephantom to start learning about different sentence types we need to learn about as part of our literacy.

The four sentence types are:
Questions
Commands
Exclamations
Statements

A question is a sentence that asks the reader something and ends in a question mark, for example, Are there any more crisps left?

A statement is a sentence that tells the reader something, for example, It is very cold in this room.

A Command is a bossy sentence that tells the reader to do something, for example, Put down that chair now!

An exclamation is a sentence that shows strong feeling about something, for example, 'It's too loud!

Last week we were reading and sorting different sentences and this next week we are going to be writing our own... here are a few pics of the last week!
