Our Topic... The Great Fire Of London

Our topic for this half term if The Great Fire Of London and we began to start learning all about this historic event in our topic work this week. Can you remember what date it started on?

We began by producing some super artwork using 2 different techniques, batik and watercolour. Batik is a type of artwork which involves using wax on a piece of material and then washing over it with a watery paint. We produced some super pieces that are going to make a fantastic, colourful display in our classroom!

Here are a few photos from just one of the lessons this week... this is the website we have been looking at in class too... Click HERE

Fire Of London Artwork

To start off our topic on the Great Fire of London, we have been producing some artwork to represent the scenes of the fire using a range of different mediums. Last week we used watercolour paints as one medium and batik... Which involves putting a wax imprint onto a piece of material and then washing over the wax with different colours, so the wax resists the colour wash. Next week we will be working on a smaller scale with watercolour pencil and pastels. Here we are in action last week....
