This week we have been doing our Black History Month studies and have been enjoying lots of different activities to celebrate and help us learn more. We watched part of Martin Luther King's speech 'I have a dream' and we wrote our own dream speeches. We also looked at some artwork of Stephen Njenga and recreated some of it using pastels.
Here we are enjoying some of the activities.

Tuesday by David Wiesner
This week in literacy we are using the story of 'Tuesday' by David Wiesner. Can you describe what is happening in this picture?
What do you like about the story?
What don't you like?
What does it remind you of?
What puzzles you?
What do you think would happen if you could carry it on at the end?
Our Big Write this week is to imagine it is next Tuesday and decide which animal we think would be flying next. What would they fly on? Where would they go and what would happen?

Big Write Star of the Week
Sam
Sam did an excellent Big Write last week, with super sentence structure, lots of great description and an interesting story with good imagination. He is also trying hard to get his handwriting as neat as he can. Well done Sam!

Classopoly Treat Time - Cat and Mouse with Mr Waring!
Last week we managed to beat the schools attendance target which is 97% so we got a roll on the Classopoly board and won the treat of 'Mr Waring Cat and Mouse Game'. We went out in the lovely sunshine on Friday afternoon and had a great time. Thank you Mr Waring!
Big Write Star of the Week!
Mason
Mason is doing a great job at trying to apply what he is learning in handwriting lessons into his big write, making sure his letters are neatly and correctly formed and are all the same size. He also wrote in clear sentences with full stops, and had a super story opener. Well done Mason!
Hot Seating for the Dreamgiver story
For part of our literacy lesson we have been doing some hot seating, asking the Dreamgiver from our story lots of questions and thinking about what the answers might be, to help us develop our imagination. We were also trying to make sure we used question marks correctly. Here are some photos of our super Dreamgivers and some of the questions the class came up with... can you think of any more to ask at home?

Tap The Talent for the Dreamgiver!
This week in our VCOP sessions we are looking at this picture of the Dreamgiver, ready for Big Write on Friday.
This morning we did an activity called 'Tap The Talent'. We have to go round each other with our whiteboards and get 5 different adjectives to describe the picture, by 'tapping each others talent'! We then used these words to make our own sentences.
Here we are 'Taping the Talent'.
