Fabulous Descriptive Writing

Last week for our VCOP games we were describing this interesting picture and using our inference skills to think about where it might lead to, how you would feel walking along it and what might happen next.... here are some of the fantastic sentences we came up with... look at the brilliant description!!!

 

 

Big Write Star Of The Week Friday 26th September

Sienna

Sienna wrote such a fantastic piece of writing last week, she used a fabulous connective 'until' and she also used commas correctly which made me very proud! She wrote a lovely story with description and a great imagination, aswell as making sure her handwriting was beautiful! Well done Sienna!!!

The Great Fire of London and Samuel Pepys.

Oh No!!!! You night get a shock when you come in on Monday morning because year 2 has been invaded by frogs and there are lily pads everywhere!!!!!!!

Zoe impressed me with the way she had clearly checked through her work and gone back and added extra description to improve what she had wrote. She had clear sentences with full stops in the correct places and and had used connectives to extend her sentences. A super story with great imagination!

Fire Of London Artwork

To start off our topic on the Great Fire of London, we have been producing some artwork to represent the scenes of the fire using a range of different mediums. Last week we used watercolour paints as one medium and batik... Which involves putting a wax imprint onto a piece of material and then washing over the wax with different colours, so the wax resists the colour wash. Next week we will be working on a smaller scale with watercolour pencil and pastels. Here we are in action last week....

Big Write Star Of The Week

This Friday we gave our first Big Write award, each week the award is given to the person who made the biggest improvement or used the most exciting VCOP or including exciting sentence structure etc in their Big Write the week before. This week Holly wrote a fantastic piece of writing, she included some super description, used a range of connectives to extend her sentences, and had punctuation in the correct place as well as lovely neat handwriting. Well done Holly!

        

Our First P.E lesson in Year 2

Today we had our first P.E lesson this school year and we all had lots of fun. There were lots of smiling faces as we learnt about safety and personal space before we start our games topic! Here we are in action...

Number Bond Maths

This week in year 2 we have been revisiting our number bonds in mathematics ready to start moving our learning on over the next few weeks. We are trying to build up speed with recall of our number facts to ten and then 20 and 100, so we know the answers without even having to think! Here we are using different resources like number lines, numicon and whiteboards to help us.

Our first VCOP session

In year 2 we start our day with a VCOP games sessions where we work on developing our 'vocabulary', 'connectives', 'openers' and 'punctuation'. We use a variety of exciting pictures and sounds to write about and try uplevel our sentences using lots of exciting VCOP. Here is a little view into our first session today! I was impressed with your super description, and lovely neat handwriting!
