Nouns, Adjectives, Verbs and Adverbs

As part of our grammar, punctuation and spelling work, we need to know the difference between a noun, verb, adjective and adverb and be able to identify them in a sentence, as well as use them in our own writing!

We have been spending a lot of time on this over the past few weeks in our literacy and VCOP work..... can you explain to your grown up what each one of these are?

Noun - The name of something e.g Fieldhead Carr, jam, chicken, Leeds
Adjective - A description word e.g soft, furry, scary, disgusting, English
Adverb - A word that describes how something is done eg quickly, suddenly, amazingly
Verb - A doing word e.g jumping, sliding, chatting

There are a few games here you can play to practice your knowledge....
